Presenter: Bill und Tom von Tokio Hotel haben ihren neuen Job begonnen. Als Juroren bei „Deutschland sucht den Superstar“ neben Dieter Bohlen und Culcha Candela-Sänger Itchy. Nebenbei arbeiten die Zwillinge an einer neuen Platte und seit ihrer Kreativpause haben sie mal wieder einen neuen Look. Mehr von Nadja D.
Bill and Tom from Tokio Hotel have started their new job. Alongside Dieter Bohlen and Culcha Candela singer Itchy they’re judges for “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”. In addition, the twins are also working on a new record and once again they’ve got a new look since taking their creative break. More from Nadja D.
Voice-over: Weiße Haare, mehr Tattoos und deutlich trainierter, doch trotzdem unverkennbar Tokio Hotel. Bill und Tom Kaulitz sind nach zwei Jahren in LA zum ersten Mal wieder in Deutschland und suchen hier als frisch gebackene Casting-Juroren vor allem nach authentischen Nachwuchsstars.
White hair, more tattoos and clearly more exercise, yet still unmistakably Tokio Hotel. For the first time Bill and Tom Kaulitz are in Germany again after [having been] in LA for two years and as newly-appointed casting judges they’re mainly looking for an authentic up-and-coming star here.
Tom: Das ’ne Person reinkommt wo man sagt so „Krass, das ist irgendwie schon ’n Künstler!“ Also, das ist irgendwie ’n Talent, das ist ’ne Person, die ist so wie sie ist und das ist gut so. Und dass man da nur noch so’n bisschen feinschleifen muss sozusagen.
That a person walks in where you, like, say: „Awesome, somehow that’s already an artist!“ Meaning, it’s some kind of talent, it’s a person who just is the way they are and that’s good like that. And that you only have to polish them a bit so to speak.
Bill: Und Wiedererkennungswert. Also, das ist mir total wichtig.
Also recognition value. Well, that’s totally important to me.
Tom: Wir suchen im Endeffekt all das was Bill nicht hat. Und ich hab.
At the end of the day we’re looking for everything that Bill hasn’t got. And what I have got.
Bill: Ja. Yes.
Voice-over: Genug Berufserfahrung bringen die 23-jährigen Zwillinge mit. Seit 2005 stehen sie professionell auf der Bühne, verkauften über sechs Millionen Platten. Die Arbeit an Album Nummer vier läuft übrigens auf Hochtouren.
The 23-year old twins have got enough work experience. They’ve been standing on a stage professionally since 2005, [and] sold more than six million records. Work on album number four is in full swing by the way.
Bill: Wir sind die ganze Zeit eigentlich im Studio gewesen, erm, Tag und Nacht. Tom und ich haben ja auch ’n Studio bei uns zu Hause. Wir haben ’n Home Studio, erm, wir produzieren auch, ja, wahnsinnig viel selber und sind am Schreiben so. Und von daher ist das jetzt auch einfach mal ’ne gute und gern genommene Abwechslung.
Actually we’ve been in the studio all this time, erm, day and night. Tom and I also got a studio in our home. We’ve got a home studio, erm, yes, we’re also producing an awful lot ourselves and are, like, writing. And that’s why all of this now is also just a good and very welcome change.
Voice-over: Vielleicht hat aber auch die angebliche €500,000-Gage eine Rolle gespielt, dass Bill und Tom jetzt mitcasten und nicht schon letztes Jahr bei Konkurrent „The Voice“ eingestiegen sind.
Maybe the alleged €500.000 pay also played a part in Bill and Tom joining the casting now and didn’t already do so for competitor „The Voice“ last year.
Tom: Bei mir war einfach im Endeffekt der Drang so groß, erm, einfach auch die Jugend musikalisch zu fördern, dass ich gesagt hab’, ich mach’ das kostenlos. Bill hat ’n Arsch voll Geld gekriegt und erm, das ist die Wahrheit.
Bottom line is that for me the urge to also just nurture young people musically became so strong that I said I’d do it for free. Bill got sh*tloads of money and erm, that’s the truth.

Voice-over: Arbeiten mussten die beiden jedenfalls schon heute. Wie streng Tokio Hotel urteilen gibt’s aber erst nächstes Jahr zu sehen.
Anyway, the two of them had to work today already. How strict Tokio Hotel’s judgements are will not be shown until next year though.
